Vocation

SOUND OF PRAYER is a research, creation, and transmission project exploring the deep relationships between sound and prayer across cultures, environments, and spiritual traditions. At the intersection of disciplines, it offers a sensory immersion into the ways in which voice, breath, music, and vibration become vehicles for experiencing the sacred.

The Site

This site organizes its content in complementary editorial formats — DOCUS, ARTICLES, podcasts, reportages, research, and archives — offering a sensory, scientific, and immersive exploration of prayer across the world. It examines prayer through multiple lenses: geographical, sensory, ritual, and symbolic.

Prayer & Sound

Sound and prayer are not separate; they vibrate together. Sound moves through every dimension of experience, from noise to music, from voice to silence, from natural environments to sacred architecture. Prayer, in turn, takes many forms — chant, mantra, recitation, but also silence, contemplation, and breath — within both individual and collective practices. Across all traditions, sound plays a fundamental role in the relationship with the divine.

Collaboration

SOUND OF PRAYER is a collaborative platform dedicated to sharing prayer practices across the globe. Anyone can contribute by bearing witness to their personal way of praying. Driven by a dynamic of openness and collective creation, we have already partnered with the platforms GeoZik and Sounds of Angkor. These partner links are marked with an asterisk*.

Science & Education

SOUND OF PRAYER embraces a transdisciplinary perspective that integrates anthropology, ethnomusicology, acoustics, linguistics, philosophy, theology, and architecture, along with biology, psychology, history, arts and design, as well as dance and theatre. The project analyzes the sonic expressions of prayer within their socio-cultural contexts and explores their emotional, physical, and symbolic impact.

Listening to the World

SOUND OF PRAYER is an invitation to listen in a new way: to the voices, the silences, the places, the elements, and the bodies. The project invites us to explore the world as a vast space of resonance, where sound becomes a profound link connecting humans, nature, and the divine.
